Here’s an easy trick that beginners can try, which is a mentalism prediction style trick.
Here you accurately predict an object that an audience member will choose, from out of the six objects displayed.
You can use any objects available to you at that time, so long as you have 6 different objects.
It’s easy to perform!
The outcome of the trick will have an audience member choose an object, and then you will display a folded piece of paper with a prediction written on it. The audience member will read the accurate prediction.
What’s the secret to this mentalism trick?
It all comes down to the selection process and forced decision making. What you are doing is manipulating the desired outcome with redirecting their thought pattern.

You lay out six different objects side-by-side. Take out a piece of paper and write down the following prediction: “You will select the (third object)” Now the third object is obviously what you have placed down into the third position of the six objects. (Counting from left to right). Looking at the image this would be the pink highlighter
Now, ask an audience member to name a number between one and six.
As you will read, the following step will force the decision making process whilst redirecting their thought pattern.
Based on what number they name you will follow a pattern interrupt technique.
So, if the person chooses the number 1, you would spell out the word ”ONE”
O, N, E from left to right and land on the third object.
If they choose number 2, you would spell out the word “TWO” T, W, O from left to right and land on the third object.
If they choose number 3, you would count out to three from left to right and land on the third object.
If they choose number 4, you would count to four from right to left and land on the third object.
If they choose number 5, you would spell the word “FIVE” F, I, V, E from right to left and land on the third object.
And lastly if they choose number 6, you would spell out the word “SIX” S, I, X fro left to right and land on the third object.
Performing this step forces the person to concentrate on the third object, even without them knowing it.
Have them pick up the object of their choice (which should be the third object) and then display the folded piece of paper with the correct prediction.
